When they say “don’t judge a book by its cover”, they were right. I was very picky when it comes to food appearance, and I bet many of you does that too. However after eating so many different type of food, I come to accept that the appeal of food is in its taste, not its look. So introducing, the Pork Belly Stew! It might not look very appealing but it sure taste great.

We’ve ordered some Pempek (or Empek-Empek) from a local catering service in Dallas. I’ve eaten this during my stay in Jakarta and I really enjoyed it. So what is Empek-Empek? Here is a snip taken from Wikipedia.
Pempek or Empek-Empek is a delicacy from Palembang which is made of fish and sago. Pempek is eaten together with a dark sauce called cuka or cuko (in bahasa Palembang). Cuko is produced from adding brown sugar, chili pepper, garlic, vinegar, and salt into hot boiling water.

For Ewdi’s birthday, we got him a cake from Tous Les Jours, a bakery in Carollton, TX inside the H-Mart. The sweet potato mousse cake was amazing and you can really taste the sweet potato on ever scoop of the mousse. Now, I’m simply craving for more….
